Trends in the commercial development of antibody therapeutics: Focus on the early-stage pipeline

Abstract: Since 2014, the number of antibody therapeutics entering clinical development annually has increased steadily, from 71 in 2014 to 286 in 2022. This has resulted in a clinical pipeline currently composed of ~1250 molecules, of which ~1100 and ~150 molecules are in early- and late-stage development, respectively. Despite the great interest in trends in early-stage clinical development, due to the difference in scale and difficulty in tracking molecules newly entered in clinical studies, analyses of trends in the global commercial development of antibody therapeutics are often limited to the late-stage clinical pipeline only. Luckily, The Antibody Society meticulously collects data for antibody therapeutics at all stages of clinical development. This webinar will provide an exhaustive analysis of the early-stage pipeline stratified by cancer and non-cancer indications, revealing trends in the molecular formats, targets, and mechanism of action.

 

 

Results of the Imaging Calendar Competition announced!

Federica Riccio (King’s College London) is the winner of our inaugural Imaging Calendar Competition!

Based on the results of our online poll, the winning image is “Surrounded” by Federica Riccio (King’s College London).

Title: Surrounded

Antibodies used: rat anti-GFAP (Invitrogen 13-0300) represented in Red Hot and rabbit anti-MAP2 (Antibodies-Online ABIN1742387) represented in Cyan Hot

Instrument used: confocal laser scanning microscope Leica TCS SP8 (Leica Microsystems)

The winner will receive:

  • broad exposure of their work,
  • a $400 cash prize,
  • and the option of a free registration to: 1) Schrödinger’s online course, Introduction to Computational Antibody Engineering; or 2) virtual or in-person Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics.

The winning image will be featured as the cover image for the 2024 volume of mAbs, and also as the cover image of the calendar. The calendar will be distributed at the 2023 Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics, in San Diego, in December.

The Society’s Communication and Membership Committee is glad to announce the Research Competition winners! 

 

Our student winner is:

The Antibody Society sponsors competitions each year to recognize and encourage the research activities of promising student/postdoctoral fellows. For the Research Competition, participants submitted a summary of their work on a topic related to antibody research. Winners (1 student and 1 post-doc) were selected based on originality, creativity, scientific merit, clarity of their research and its presentation.

Winners will receive:

  • broad exposure of their work,
  • a $400 cash prize,
  • and the option of a free registration to: 1) Schrödinger’s online course, Introduction to Computational Antibody Engineering; or 2) virtual Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics.

Imaging Competition voting is open!

Congratulations to the 12 participants whose images have been short listed for the calendar!

This competition was designed to acknowledge and encourage the creativity of our members involved in imaging studies. We had a fantastic turn out and thank all entries for your efforts.

We have short-listed 12 images which will made into a calendar for distribution by The Antibody Society at the Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics meeting in December. Congratulations!

But we would like you, our members and followers, to decide the winner.

The winning image will be featured as the cover image for the 2024 volume of mAbs and the cover image of the calendar. Additionally the member who submitted the winning image will receive broad exposure of their work, a $400 cash prize, and the option of a free registration to:
1) Schrödinger’s online course, Introduction to Computational Antibody Engineering; or
2) virtual or in-person Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics.

Call for papers: Attention Society members who are also authors!

mAbs is the official journal of The Antibody Society. Each year, the journal’s publisher, Taylor & Francis, provides several article publishing charge (APC) waivers, with a value of up to $4000 USD / £3200 / €3840 / $5570 AUD each, that we may distribute to members. To be considered for an APC waiver, please submit pre-submission inquiries, which should include the authors, title, abstract, and general outline of the intended article, to membership@antibodysociety.org.

mAbs publishes high quality reports, reviews, and perspective articles covering a range of antibody R&D topics, including:

  • Design, engineering, and selection of antibody therapeutics, including antibody-drug conjugates, multispecific antibodies, and single-domain antibodies
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence applications
  • Non-clinical studies of antibodies, such as mechanism of action studies, safety, and efficacy studies in animals
  • Manufacturing and formulation
  • Regulatory review and approval of antibody therapeutics

The deadline for submission of the APC waiver request is July 31, 2023.

The deadline for submission of the manuscript to the journal is January 31, 2024.

The selected recipients will be notified as soon as possible after the request submission deadline.
